About Us
David Who?
Welcome to my new weather related web site. My name is David and as you can see, I
really enjoy watching Mother Nature un-wind. My interests in meteorology started in 1978
when I was opening a new restaurant in Raton, New Mexico and also in Sioux City, Iowa.
Being from California, I never experienced mid-west type weather conditions before.
During my stay in the mid-west that year, ( it was the summer time...June and July), I
witnessed cloud formations that I've never seen before in real life. I saw formations such
as cirrocumulus.....cumulus congestus.....stratocumulus opacus.....and most of all, the
notorious "CUMULONIMBUS MAMMA". These mammatus clouds are the mother of all the
tornadic formations....." THE SUPERCELL CLOUD". These super cell formations, given the
right conditions, can form as high as 50,000 feet in altitude.
While I was there, I witnessed the sky opening up with patterns of lighting that would
scare any new comer who never experienced them before. The boom from the thunder
storm sounded like a 500 pound bomb going off. Of course, I should mention that the hail
started falling, and it was the size of golf balls. After all that, the torrential rains would fill
any large bucket very fast. If I would of lived there at that time with all my weather related
hardware, I would of seen some pretty fantastic data readings being captured. The
weather and data readings here in San Francisco are very mellow...so to say...all year
round.
I still very much enjoy the restaurant business. It pays all the bills and I continue have lots
of fun un-winding by playing with all the weather toys. I currently manage a steak house,
where I've been for the last fifteen years, here in San Francisco. I do hope that you enjoy
this site and feel free to e-mail me anytime.
Happiness to all, David
P.S. I would love to hear from you. Email me: david@sfo-weatherman.com

when I was opening a new restaurant in Raton, New Mexico and also in Sioux City, Iowa.

About Us

About Us

About Us

Color Rationale

The main blue color represents trust, knowledge, and the sky—perfect for a weather science site. The soft gray adds a sense of calm and professionalism, making content easy to view. A bright yellow is used for highlights and buttons, reflecting sunshine and drawing attention to important areas, which fits the weather theme and keeps things friendly.

Typography Style

Montserrat Heading Style

Primary headings with Montserrat font

Clean, elegant Open Sans typography for exceptional readability and modern aesthetic.

Body text: Open Sans

Typography Rationale

Montserrat is clear, modern, and easy to read for headlines. Open Sans is friendly and simple for body text, making data and detailed information comfortable to read for everyone. Both fonts are available on Google Fonts, work well online, and keep things looking open and welcoming for a broad audience.

Imagery & Aesthetic Direction
Imagery Style

Use real weather photos from the San Francisco area, live radar screenshots, and friendly pictures of the community. Favor clear, bright images that show weather events, scientific tools, and engaged people. Mix in some atmospheric photos (like clouds, rain, or sunrises) with easy-to-understand data visuals.

Overall Aesthetic

The site should feel trusted, open, and inviting—with a science-focused but friendly look. Avoid clutter. Use lots of space around content and buttons to keep things clean. Make it easy for people to find weather information and engage with community resources.

Theme Style
Community-driven science. Mix a sense of local San Francisco weather culture with clear, honest visuals. The site should highlight the nonprofit and open knowledge-sharing mission by feeling accessible, collaborative, and friendly.

Sophisticated and professional aesthetic

Layout Approach
Use a simple, mobile-friendly design. Main menu easy to find at the top. Show weather highlights and newest data first, with large, clear news or update sections. Make sure buttons stand out for live cameras, weather links, and radar images. Spread content out with enough space so it’s easy for all ages to read. Place the contact email where it’s easy to find on every page.

Mobile-first, adaptive design

Recommended Elements
Include photos that show San Francisco’s unique weather and scenery.
Use local terms or fun phrases that make the site feel like it’s part of the Bay Area community (like Bay Area, fog, or Golden Gate).
Elements to Avoid
Avoid overly dark or stormy visuals that can feel negative.
Stay away from colorful patterns or flashy designs that distract from weather data.
Do not use technical weather maps without simple explanations.

About Introduction

Welcome to my new weather related web site. My name is David and as you can see, I really enjoy watching Mother Nature un-wind. My interests in meteorology started in 1978 when I was opening a new restaurant in Raton, New Mexico and also in Sioux City, Iowa. Being from California, I never experienced mid-west type weather conditions before. During my stay in the mid-west that year, ( it was the summer time...June and July), I witnessed cloud formations that I've never seen before in real life. I saw formations such as cirrocumulus.....cumulus congestus.....stratocumulus opacus.....and most of all, the notorious "CUMULONIMBUS MAMMA". These mammatus clouds are the mother of all the tornadic formations....." THE SUPERCELL CLOUD". These super cell formations, given the right conditions, can form as high as 50,000 feet in altitude. While I was there, I witnessed the sky opening up with patterns of lighting that would scare any new comer who never experienced them before. The boom from the thunder storm sounded like a 500 pound bomb going off. Of course, I should mention that the hail started falling, and it was the size of golf balls. After all that, the torrential rains would fill any large bucket very fast. If I would of lived there at that time with all my weather related hardware, I would of seen some pretty fantastic data readings being captured. The weather and data readings here in San Francisco are very mellow...so to say...all year round. I still very much enjoy the restaurant business. It pays all the bills and I continue have lots of fun un-winding by playing with all the weather toys. I currently manage a steak house, where I've been for the last fifteen years, here in San Francisco. I do hope that you enjoy this site and feel free to e-mail me anytime. Happiness to all, David P.S. I would love to hear from you. Email me: david@sfo-weatherman.com
