Critical Incident Stress Management
Occasionally, an event can be so severe or so incomprehensible that it overwhelms our
emotions and ability to cope. Workplace death and injury can devastate co-workers.
Crimes involving threat to life can devastate those involved and those who witness the
event. Just as crises can traumatize individuals, repeated exposure to traumatic situations
can engulf those who act to save lives. Emergency Responders experience intense
emotions associated with the death and injuries which confront them regularly. These
sights and experiences can overwhelm even the most hardened veterans.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing begins restoring the normal balance of thoughts and
feelings to those associated with the tragedy. By helping focus and clarify the traumatizing
events and reactions to them, we begin normalizing both memory and coping
mechanisms. We employ professional counselors who help those involved understand the
psychological and physiological mechanisms of the normal stress response. In many ways,
we help individuals understand and adapt to their normal reactions to very abnormal
circumstances.
Choices Counseling Services has been the premiere provider of Critical Incident Stress
Management (CISM) services in San Juan County since 1998. Today, we respond to

William J. (Bill) Pogue, LPCC #1607
Bill founded the agency that would become Choices in 1991. He is a Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor specializing in adolescent, family and adult therapy. He is a cognitive,
behavioral, and solution-focused therapist. Bill believes that our attitudes and decisions
mold our physical and emotional world. His goals are to help adolescents become more
responsible, families become more cohesive and adults become better able to deal with
their stressors and emotions.
Bill received his Master’s degree in Psychology in 1976. He has over 35 years of mental
health experience. His experience includes extensive direct clinical care as well as
consulting for state and federal agencies. He was trained by Jeffery Mitchell, PhD in Critical
Incident Stress Management. Additionally, he is a Vietnam Veteran whose resume includes
six years working in the oil field.
Bill recently retired his white water raft to be able to enjoy more time with his wonderful
wife, his two outstanding sons/wives and his five exceptional grandchildren.

Daniele is an alumni of Texas Tech University where she earned a Bachelors in Psychology
with a Minor in Substance Abuse, along with a Masters of Education in Community
Counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and her approach to
therapy has a client-centered, cognitive and behavioral emphasis. While in Texas she
worked with college students struggling with addictions in both group and individual
settings. Along with college students, her work included the federal justice system
providing counseling services to individuals with mental health issues. Her emphasis
includes working with teens, couples, and adults of all ages. After going to school and
working in West Texas for 9 years Daniele returned to her childhood community of
Farmington where her experience has included adolescent treatment services, along with
the private practice setting working with a variety of mental health related issues. She
enjoys what she does and has a strong commitment to helping others find their potential.
Moving back to Farmington was not only to be closer to family but to increase her passion
to teach and guide others. Her work with adolescents is not just within the counseling
community, but within the field of dance as well. Daniele has danced from the age of 3.
Her continued love for dance is both as a coach and as a dance mom. She enjoys the
warm NM summers and a good baseball game.

Critical Incident Stress Management
Occasionally, an event can be so severe or so incomprehensible that it overwhelms our
emotions and ability to cope. Workplace death and injury can devastate co-workers.
Crimes involving threat to life can devastate those involved and those who witness the
event. Just as crises can traumatize individuals, repeated exposure to traumatic situations
can engulf those who act to save lives. Emergency Responders experience intense
emotions associated with the death and injuries which confront them regularly. These
sights and experiences can overwhelm even the most hardened veterans.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing begins restoring the normal balance of thoughts and
feelings to those associated with the tragedy. By helping focus and clarify the traumatizing
events and reactions to them, we begin normalizing both memory and coping
mechanisms. We employ professional counselors who help those involved understand the
psychological and physiological mechanisms of the normal stress response. In many ways,
we help individuals understand and adapt to their normal reactions to very abnormal
circumstances.
Choices Counseling Services has been the premiere provider of Critical Incident Stress
Management (CISM) services in San Juan County since 1998. Today, we respond to
individuals, groups and companies under severe stress throughout the Four Corners area.
We are the primary provider of CISM services to area law enforcement and emergency
responders. We have provided these specialized services to a diversity of companies
including banks, air carriers and oil field companies.

William J. (Bill) Pogue, LPCC #1607
Bill founded the agency that would become Choices in 1991. He is a Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor specializing in adolescent, family and adult therapy. He is a cognitive,
behavioral, and solution-focused therapist. Bill believes that our attitudes and decisions
mold our physical and emotional world. His goals are to help adolescents become more
responsible, families become more cohesive and adults become better able to deal with
their stressors and emotions.
Bill received his Master’s degree in Psychology in 1976. He has over 35 years of mental
health experience. His experience includes extensive direct clinical care as well as
consulting for state and federal agencies. He was trained by Jeffery Mitchell, PhD in Critical
Incident Stress Management. Additionally, he is a Vietnam Veteran whose resume includes
six years working in the oil field.
Bill recently retired his white water raft to be able to enjoy more time with his wonderful
wife, his two outstanding sons/wives and his five exceptional grandchildren.

Daniele is an alumni of Texas Tech University where she earned a Bachelors in Psychology
with a Minor in Substance Abuse, along with a Masters of Education in Community
Counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and her approach to
therapy has a client-centered, cognitive and behavioral emphasis. While in Texas she
worked with college students struggling with addictions in both group and individual
settings. Along with college students, her work included the federal justice system
providing counseling services to individuals with mental health issues. Her emphasis
includes working with teens, couples, and adults of all ages. After going to school and
working in West Texas for 9 years Daniele returned to her childhood community of
Farmington where her experience has included adolescent treatment services, along with
the private practice setting working with a variety of mental health related issues. She
enjoys what she does and has a strong commitment to helping others find their potential.
Moving back to Farmington was not only to be closer to family but to increase her passion
to teach and guide others. Her work with adolescents is not just within the counseling
community, but within the field of dance as well. Daniele has danced from the age of 3.
Her continued love for dance is both as a coach and as a dance mom. She enjoys the
warm NM summers and a good baseball game.

Sheri is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked with children and teens
since she graduated with her Master's in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis
in marriage and family therapy in 2012. She enjoys working with families and individuals,
ranging from childhood to adulthood. Sheri has worked in multiple treatment settings,
including outpatient clinics and an inpatient treatment center for adolescents. Sheri uses a

Critical Incident Stress Management
Occasionally, an event can be so severe or so incomprehensible that it overwhelms our
emotions and ability to cope. Workplace death and injury can devastate co-workers.
Crimes involving threat to life can devastate those involved and those who witness the
event. Just as crises can traumatize individuals, repeated exposure to traumatic situations
can engulf those who act to save lives. Emergency Responders experience intense
emotions associated with the death and injuries which confront them regularly. These
sights and experiences can overwhelm even the most hardened veterans.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing begins restoring the normal balance of thoughts and
feelings to those associated with the tragedy. By helping focus and clarify the traumatizing
events and reactions to them, we begin normalizing both memory and coping
mechanisms. We employ professional counselors who help those involved understand the
psychological and physiological mechanisms of the normal stress response. In many ways,
we help individuals understand and adapt to their normal reactions to very abnormal
circumstances.
Choices Counseling Services has been the premiere provider of Critical Incident Stress
Management (CISM) services in San Juan County since 1998. Today, we respond to
individuals, groups and companies under severe stress throughout the Four Corners area.

William J. (Bill) Pogue, LPCC #1607
Bill founded the agency that would become Choices in 1991. He is a Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor specializing in adolescent, family and adult therapy. He is a cognitive,
behavioral, and solution-focused therapist. Bill believes that our attitudes and decisions
mold our physical and emotional world. His goals are to help adolescents become more
responsible, families become more cohesive and adults become better able to deal with
their stressors and emotions.
Bill received his Master’s degree in Psychology in 1976. He has over 35 years of mental
health experience. His experience includes extensive direct clinical care as well as
consulting for state and federal agencies. He was trained by Jeffery Mitchell, PhD in Critical
Incident Stress Management. Additionally, he is a Vietnam Veteran whose resume includes
six years working in the oil field.
Bill recently retired his white water raft to be able to enjoy more time with his wonderful
wife, his two outstanding sons/wives and his five exceptional grandchildren.

Daniele is an alumni of Texas Tech University where she earned a Bachelors in Psychology
with a Minor in Substance Abuse, along with a Masters of Education in Community
Counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and her approach to
therapy has a client-centered, cognitive and behavioral emphasis. While in Texas she
worked with college students struggling with addictions in both group and individual
settings. Along with college students, her work included the federal justice system
providing counseling services to individuals with mental health issues. Her emphasis
includes working with teens, couples, and adults of all ages. After going to school and
working in West Texas for 9 years Daniele returned to her childhood community of
Farmington where her experience has included adolescent treatment services, along with
the private practice setting working with a variety of mental health related issues. She
enjoys what she does and has a strong commitment to helping others find their potential.
Moving back to Farmington was not only to be closer to family but to increase her passion
to teach and guide others. Her work with adolescents is not just within the counseling
community, but within the field of dance as well. Daniele has danced from the age of 3.
Her continued love for dance is both as a coach and as a dance mom. She enjoys the
warm NM summers and a good baseball game.

Critical Incident Stress Management
Occasionally, an event can be so severe or so incomprehensible that it overwhelms our
emotions and ability to cope. Workplace death and injury can devastate co-workers.
Crimes involving threat to life can devastate those involved and those who witness the
event. Just as crises can traumatize individuals, repeated exposure to traumatic situations
can engulf those who act to save lives. Emergency Responders experience intense
emotions associated with the death and injuries which confront them regularly. These
sights and experiences can overwhelm even the most hardened veterans.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing begins restoring the normal balance of thoughts and
feelings to those associated with the tragedy. By helping focus and clarify the traumatizing
events and reactions to them, we begin normalizing both memory and coping
mechanisms. We employ professional counselors who help those involved understand the
psychological and physiological mechanisms of the normal stress response. In many ways,
we help individuals understand and adapt to their normal reactions to very abnormal
circumstances.
Choices Counseling Services has been the premiere provider of Critical Incident Stress
Management (CISM) services in San Juan County since 1998. Today, we respond to
individuals, groups and companies under severe stress throughout the Four Corners area.
We are the primary provider of CISM services to area law enforcement and emergency

William J. (Bill) Pogue, LPCC #1607
Bill founded the agency that would become Choices in 1991. He is a Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor specializing in adolescent, family and adult therapy. He is a cognitive,
behavioral, and solution-focused therapist. Bill believes that our attitudes and decisions
mold our physical and emotional world. His goals are to help adolescents become more
responsible, families become more cohesive and adults become better able to deal with
their stressors and emotions.
Bill received his Master’s degree in Psychology in 1976. He has over 35 years of mental
health experience. His experience includes extensive direct clinical care as well as
consulting for state and federal agencies. He was trained by Jeffery Mitchell, PhD in Critical
Incident Stress Management. Additionally, he is a Vietnam Veteran whose resume includes
six years working in the oil field.
Bill recently retired his white water raft to be able to enjoy more time with his wonderful
wife, his two outstanding sons/wives and his five exceptional grandchildren.

Daniele is an alumni of Texas Tech University where she earned a Bachelors in Psychology
with a Minor in Substance Abuse, along with a Masters of Education in Community
Counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and her approach to
therapy has a client-centered, cognitive and behavioral emphasis. While in Texas she
worked with college students struggling with addictions in both group and individual
settings. Along with college students, her work included the federal justice system
providing counseling services to individuals with mental health issues. Her emphasis
includes working with teens, couples, and adults of all ages. After going to school and
working in West Texas for 9 years Daniele returned to her childhood community of
Farmington where her experience has included adolescent treatment services, along with
the private practice setting working with a variety of mental health related issues. She
enjoys what she does and has a strong commitment to helping others find their potential.
Moving back to Farmington was not only to be closer to family but to increase her passion
to teach and guide others. Her work with adolescents is not just within the counseling
community, but within the field of dance as well. Daniele has danced from the age of 3.
Her continued love for dance is both as a coach and as a dance mom. She enjoys the
warm NM summers and a good baseball game.

Sheri is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked with children and teens
since she graduated with her Master's in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis
in marriage and family therapy in 2012. She enjoys working with families and individuals,
ranging from childhood to adulthood. Sheri has worked in multiple treatment settings,
including outpatient clinics and an inpatient treatment center for adolescents. Sheri uses a
variety of approaches in supporting her clients, including cognitive-behavioral therapy,
solution-focused, and systemic methods. She enjoys collaborating with individuals and
families to support them and help them find ways to heal and thrive.
When Sheri is not in the office, she spends time with her husband and "fur baby" having
adventures outdoors. She also spends a lot of free time baking and crafting.

Critical Incident Stress Management
Occasionally, an event can be so severe or so incomprehensible that it overwhelms our
emotions and ability to cope. Workplace death and injury can devastate co-workers.
Crimes involving threat to life can devastate those involved and those who witness the
event. Just as crises can traumatize individuals, repeated exposure to traumatic situations
can engulf those who act to save lives. Emergency Responders experience intense
emotions associated with the death and injuries which confront them regularly. These
sights and experiences can overwhelm even the most hardened veterans.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing begins restoring the normal balance of thoughts and
feelings to those associated with the tragedy. By helping focus and clarify the traumatizing
events and reactions to them, we begin normalizing both memory and coping
mechanisms. We employ professional counselors who help those involved understand the
psychological and physiological mechanisms of the normal stress response. In many ways,
we help individuals understand and adapt to their normal reactions to very abnormal
circumstances.
Choices Counseling Services has been the premiere provider of Critical Incident Stress
Management (CISM) services in San Juan County since 1998. Today, we respond to
individuals, groups and companies under severe stress throughout the Four Corners area.
We are the primary provider of CISM services to area law enforcement and emergency

William J. (Bill) Pogue, LPCC #1607
Bill founded the agency that would become Choices in 1991. He is a Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor specializing in adolescent, family and adult therapy. He is a cognitive,
behavioral, and solution-focused therapist. Bill believes that our attitudes and decisions
mold our physical and emotional world. His goals are to help adolescents become more
responsible, families become more cohesive and adults become better able to deal with
their stressors and emotions.
Bill received his Master’s degree in Psychology in 1976. He has over 35 years of mental
health experience. His experience includes extensive direct clinical care as well as
consulting for state and federal agencies. He was trained by Jeffery Mitchell, PhD in Critical
Incident Stress Management. Additionally, he is a Vietnam Veteran whose resume includes
six years working in the oil field.
Bill recently retired his white water raft to be able to enjoy more time with his wonderful
wife, his two outstanding sons/wives and his five exceptional grandchildren.

Daniele is an alumni of Texas Tech University where she earned a Bachelors in Psychology
with a Minor in Substance Abuse, along with a Masters of Education in Community
Counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and her approach to
therapy has a client-centered, cognitive and behavioral emphasis. While in Texas she
worked with college students struggling with addictions in both group and individual
settings. Along with college students, her work included the federal justice system
providing counseling services to individuals with mental health issues. Her emphasis
includes working with teens, couples, and adults of all ages. After going to school and
working in West Texas for 9 years Daniele returned to her childhood community of
Farmington where her experience has included adolescent treatment services, along with
the private practice setting working with a variety of mental health related issues. She
enjoys what she does and has a strong commitment to helping others find their potential.
Moving back to Farmington was not only to be closer to family but to increase her passion
to teach and guide others. Her work with adolescents is not just within the counseling
community, but within the field of dance as well. Daniele has danced from the age of 3.
Her continued love for dance is both as a coach and as a dance mom. She enjoys the
warm NM summers and a good baseball game.

Critical Incident Stress Management
Occasionally, an event can be so severe or so incomprehensible that it overwhelms our
emotions and ability to cope. Workplace death and injury can devastate co-workers.
Crimes involving threat to life can devastate those involved and those who witness the
event. Just as crises can traumatize individuals, repeated exposure to traumatic situations
can engulf those who act to save lives. Emergency Responders experience intense
emotions associated with the death and injuries which confront them regularly. These
sights and experiences can overwhelm even the most hardened veterans.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing begins restoring the normal balance of thoughts and
feelings to those associated with the tragedy. By helping focus and clarify the traumatizing
events and reactions to them, we begin normalizing both memory and coping
mechanisms. We employ professional counselors who help those involved understand the
psychological and physiological mechanisms of the normal stress response. In many ways,
we help individuals understand and adapt to their normal reactions to very abnormal
circumstances.
Choices Counseling Services has been the premiere provider of Critical Incident Stress
Management (CISM) services in San Juan County since 1998. Today, we respond to

William J. (Bill) Pogue, LPCC #1607
Bill founded the agency that would become Choices in 1991. He is a Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor specializing in adolescent, family and adult therapy. He is a cognitive,
behavioral, and solution-focused therapist. Bill believes that our attitudes and decisions
mold our physical and emotional world. His goals are to help adolescents become more
responsible, families become more cohesive and adults become better able to deal with
their stressors and emotions.
Bill received his Master’s degree in Psychology in 1976. He has over 35 years of mental
health experience. His experience includes extensive direct clinical care as well as
consulting for state and federal agencies. He was trained by Jeffery Mitchell, PhD in Critical
Incident Stress Management. Additionally, he is a Vietnam Veteran whose resume includes
six years working in the oil field.
Bill recently retired his white water raft to be able to enjoy more time with his wonderful
wife, his two outstanding sons/wives and his five exceptional grandchildren.

Daniele is an alumni of Texas Tech University where she earned a Bachelors in Psychology
with a Minor in Substance Abuse, along with a Masters of Education in Community
Counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and her approach to
therapy has a client-centered, cognitive and behavioral emphasis. While in Texas she
worked with college students struggling with addictions in both group and individual
settings. Along with college students, her work included the federal justice system
providing counseling services to individuals with mental health issues. Her emphasis
includes working with teens, couples, and adults of all ages. After going to school and
working in West Texas for 9 years Daniele returned to her childhood community of
Farmington where her experience has included adolescent treatment services, along with
the private practice setting working with a variety of mental health related issues. She
enjoys what she does and has a strong commitment to helping others find their potential.
Moving back to Farmington was not only to be closer to family but to increase her passion
to teach and guide others. Her work with adolescents is not just within the counseling
community, but within the field of dance as well. Daniele has danced from the age of 3.
Her continued love for dance is both as a coach and as a dance mom. She enjoys the
warm NM summers and a good baseball game.
